Is the ride dangerous for adults or kids?
Not at all. The boat has been a boat for 58 years! It is very stable and moves at slow speeds ONLY in the sheltered Charlottetown Harbour waters. It is built for comfort - not speed!
-
Can I eat & drink on the boat during the tour?
Yes! Our boat has a fully licensed kitchen serving cold local drinks, PEI lobster, chicken, hot dogs, Caesar salad, rib eye, desserts & more.
-
Can I bring my own alcohol on the boat?
No. We are licensed by the PEI Liquor Control Commission and it is illegal for us to allow passengers to bring their own alcohol on board the boat. Fear not, however, as we have lots of cold drinks available for purchase! π
-
Is food & drink included on the boat tours?
Food is NOT included with your ticket price for the 12PM, 2:30PM (or 5PM Sun-Thurs) tours, but may be purchased optionally when you buy your tickets online. Drinks are always available to purchase on board.
Our 9:30AM tour includes hot coffee/tea, but no food. Drinks are always available to purchase on board.
Our Fri & Sat Surf & Turf dinner cruises INCLUDE Fresh Island blue mussels, Caesar salad with house-made dressing, rib eye, lobster, seasonal vegetables, choice of 2 cheesecakes & coffee/tea. Other drinks are available for purchase.
-
Is the boat available for private tours?
Yes! The solar boat is a great option for your corporate event, family reunion, bachelor/bachelorette or private party. We have a special discounted rate of $39/person for booking the whole boat reduced from $54/person β based on 34 people. This is a $510 savings!
We can also add delicious food, live music, drag shows or comedy and you can use our 4 video screens & speakers to play your videos, movies or songs. Enjoy a quiet dinner or rock the boat β this vessel can do it all! Contact us with what you would like & we can make it happen.
-
What happens if it rains or is too windy?
Our solar boat is fully covered, so we can go out in any kind of weather (except if we have sustained winds of more than 50km/hr). You will be comfy, dry & warm to have great fun on our solar boat tours. π
-
What should I wear?
Wear whatever you feel comfortable in! The weather in May/June & October can be a bit chillier, so we recommend long pants & a light jacket, but the boat is fully covered & warm, so you should be fine in almost any kind of clothing.
Even our surf & turf dinner cruise is a casual affair, although we do have lots of people who want to dress up for this amazing evening on the water with fine food & great company.
We DO recommend comfortable walking shoes to navigate the stairs & dock and the 3 stairs inside the boat. You can always bring your heels to change into!π
-
Should we go out for food & drinks BEFORE going on your tours?
You can, but then you would miss out on the wonderful food & drink options we have available on our tours! Take a look at our menus to see the tasty delights & great drinks we have available on the Solar Boat: Lobster rolls, lobster, chicken, Caesar salad, potato salad, steamed mussels, & chocolate dipped bananas!
Some of our passengers last year said that we were really "a high end restaurant that happens to be a solar boat tour!". π
