About Ride Solar
Supporting our community while reducing our carbon footprint.

Co-founded by Islanders, Steve Arnold and Peter Ixkes and joined by Haligonian, Jeff Bonang, Ride Solar offers solar-powered, historical, food & drink experiences in two of the most beautiful cities on the East Coast of Canada – Charlottetown and Halifax.
Established in 2015, Ride Solar is a private sector solution to an ongoing government commitment to reducing greenhouse gasses to achieve net-zero by 2040. The first Canadian company to offer both land & water tours via solar-electric vehicles, Ride Solar has reclaimed, rebuilt & repowered a CDN Heritage Vessel from the 1967 Montreal Expo into North America’s LARGEST solar-powered boat in Charlottetown and built the world’s FIRST solar-powered pedal busses (Party Bikes) in Charlottetown & Halifax to offer food & drink historical eco-tours to those who like to have fun while saving the planet.
In 2025, Ride Solar opened The Lobster Trap Lounge with VR historical foodie tastings and Time Walk VR Walking Tours – more Canadian firsts!

Our Mission
Our goal is to help reduce greenhouse gasses in PEI and Nova Scotia to achieve net-zero by 2040, but who said saving the planet can’t be fun? Although all our tours are emission-free & environmentally friendly, we also incorporate food, drinks, music & laughs with Canadian first products. We like to call it “tourism refined”.
